In reply to question in Parliament on July 4th
as to what action would be taken to carry out the recommendations of the Indemnity Committee, I made following reply. Begins:-

They have been pre- vented from taking the necessary action solely by the continued uncertainty of the conditions prevailing in China. Neither the proposals of the Advisory Commit- tee nor their financial stability have been thereby prejudiced in any way. The Advisory Committee is
still in being, and its proposals can be carried into
effect as soon as the necessary amending Act 18 pas-
sed.
